When it comes to politics, the days of the TV show Ozzie and Harriet are long gone. The innocence that was with us in the 1950s with shows like that, as well as Leave it to Beaver and My Three Sons has now developed into anger and animosity. There doesn’t seem to be any courtesy or lack of rudeness when politicians call each other names and are disrespectful. I guess they believe that the public wants them to be that way in order to obtain their vote. When I watch one politician constantly interrupting a rival, I instinctively side with the rival. I’m not going to vote for someone who tells me nothing about their qualifications but only tears down others on a personal level.

Not naming any names but it seems as if the politicians of today fit, by and large, within this category.  I simply cannot understand why this is a personal attribute of which they are proud.  There is a certain degree of innocence that was present during the Carter and Kennedy days. Respect was expected and practiced. They spoke about the issues, not criticisms about each other. That tells the voters nothing. Just like I miss the TV shows mentioned above, I also miss politics as they were over 70 years ago.  Doubtful we will ever see those days again.
